And Rachael Ray talks to much, even for a talkshow.

Probably because, like reality shows, they are extremely cheap to make. They require little thought, no elaborate sets/locations/special effects, virtually no writing, usually only one big star instead of several and they are often filmed over the course of an hour instead of a week. And for some unknown reason, they can attract an audience as well.

It's a win-win situation for the networks, while we get stuck with 500 channels of crap on tv.

I don't know, but they all suck. I watched "Rachael Ray" just out of curiosity and it was an atrocity. She was incredibly awkward, and it just sucked. I also checked out "TALKSHOW with Spike Feresten" and it sucked, as well. When will these morons like he and Carson Daly realize that you can't do anything with a 30 minute program? Feresten might do alright with an hour-long broadcast (Carson couldn't do anything if he had the entire NBC prime-time lineup), but his sitcom-length talk show isn't gonna go anywhere. He needs a monologue, some FUNNY comedy sketches, and real, full-length guest segments with real, full-length interviews. Why reinvent the wheel?

One more thing: as ashamed I am to admit it, I used to like "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." In the first two seasons, it was hilarious. By the third it began slipping, and with the new set, new theme song, and NEW (atrocious) FORMAT, the fourth season has found its way out of my TiVo and out of my living room. She went from being like the daytime equivelant to Jay Leno or Conan O'Brien, to just another Regis & Kelly, or even softcore Oprah Winfrey. Sad.

It's a brand new season on TV, so there are always lots of talk shows that begin. It will be interesting to see how long some of these stick around. To be honest, none of them seem very appealing to me. Rachel Ray looks boring, Megan Mulally doesn't interest me, The View is awful nowadays. What looks good to you guys?
