I am leaving Indiana on my own concious to clear a felony warrant up. Of course I am guilty, the charge is Grand Larceny in the amount of $1200. I stole a 540 piece toolset from sears in a mall, true I left the store with the product, but not the mall. The toolset was recovered 25 feet from the entrance. They claim to have videotape, so this is why I am pleading guilty. Also, will my 400 plus hours of verified volunteer service in New Orleans help when a sentence is handed down. Now also I am not wanting to be put on probation, I cant be on probation because I am going to be a truck driver as soon as this is cleared, I just want to serve my time.
Its my first offense. Im 21

You stole a $1200 540 piece tool set from Sears, they caught you wheeling it out of the store... You're pleading guilty because they "claim to have you on video tape?" You are too stupid to be allowed out of prison. You're pleading guilty because you've watched too many TV shows where they get off the hook for this. Just make sure you don't drop the soap Susie. You're gonna be some body's girlfriend. You commit the crime, you do the time. I have no pity, sympathy , or respect for an idiot like you. Oh before I forget, you were over 18 dumbass, this isn't going to ever be cleared off your record, this is your legacy. A 21 year old thief, you plead guilty, you might as well start selling pet rocks on the corner.

As far as Sears is concerned if it left the store with you and you did not pay for it you are the thief who stole it. Thievery doesn't have a distance test built in. suppose some honest customer came into Sears looking for a tool set and you had just stolen the last one - they would lose the sale and it would be your fault. Plus they don't want to get a reputation as being an easy mark for thieves.

Sears is very hard nosed and will always prosecute as a matter of policy. You picked a bad place to mess with.

stealing is stealing even though they found the loot, and no your new orleans help will not help this case. you should not get to long a time to spend. They night give you an amount to pay and then your out, I dont see you going up for more than a few months. I do know that if you have a 75 thousand dollar bond and dont pay any thing then you stay for a year, so your not looking at much time. Good luck to yah.

You should have thought of the consequences BEFORE you committed the crime.
Does it matter that you didn't make it out of the mall with it?
If they arrested you in the hallway or in the parking lot it doesn't matter. You still stole it!
If you robbed a bank, does it matter if they catch you in the bank, on the sidewalk or in Bermuda?
Probation or jail makes no difference when getting a job.
You will still have a Grand Larceny conviction on your record.

Then just serve your time as opposed to a sentence of probation and then become a truck driver. Believe it or not, you have your whole life ahead of you. Get a public defender to call the voluenteer work you did to the attention of the judge then throw yourself on the mercy of the court

It's up to the lawyers and the judge on how much time you will get, they will prob. make a deal with you and you can voice all your concerns to your attorney and if you have been a good boy since you will probably get off with a fine and as far as probation that can be served wherever you live. Good luck and don't steal anything else.

talk to your lawyer, you might get a suspended sentance or more community service hours. The courts might or might not look at your 400 plus hours because it was prior to these proceedings. But it could help in the outcome of the sentence what ever you get. Tell your lawyer, talk to him/her that is what they are there for. (Canada) good luck dont bend over for the soap

Don't think it makes any difference how far you got away with the loot, you did steal it.
Can't you be a truck driver that rings in to probabtion and tells them where you are in the interest of working for a living instead of a life of crime.
