Hypothetical question, people.

You have this girlfriend/boyfriend that you've been in relationship with. Your lover does something dirty (whatever you can think of) and you call of the reationship. You find out your friend is dating your ex a while after (make up your own time frame). Being the good friend you are, you try to warn your friend "The same thing he/she did to me, he'll/she'll do it to you". Your friend is not trying to hear you because the think you are hating on them but it's far from the truth. Your friend says "Just because it didn't work for you, that doesn't mean it won't work for me". You back off. One night, your friend call's you and your words of wisdom were proven right. Your sistuation plays out on them. They are heartbroken.

Do you say I told you so or no? Honest answers. Thanks.

No, why would you want to add to their pain. Be caring, supportive have empathy but don't be cruel....that's what i told you is cruelty.

It is always tempting to say "I told you so", especially in a situation as cut and dried as this one. However, Your friend is unlikely to benefit from hearing it. Ask yourself this: Why are you saying it? Do you want to insist your friend acknowledge you were right? Or do you want the self-congratulatory pleasure of hearing yourself say it? Either way, it is petty and driven by insecurity. Rise above this temptation and be there for your friend in her hour of need. In time, she may well say it herself without your prompting.

First off, if this person is really a friend, they wouldn't be dating my ex. With that being said, yeah, you say "I told you so", or if you still consider this person a close friend, you say something like "I tried to warn you".

YES!!! Friends are supposed to be honest with each other, right? I just ask that you be honest but also be comforting. Don't say it like you're a cold-hearted jerk. Say it in, what your parents call it, a tough love tone. Be stern but comfort him.

Only certain kinds of friends do that. They have trouble keeping positive friends.

just be there the " I told you so" s not something a friend would say.. when she comes to you for comfort just be the friend you would want her to be.... She has a right to her mistakes just as you do...
