A couple of hours before your audition, make sure that you sit down in a comfortable, private, quiet place and do some breathing exercises. Take long, deep breaths and while you are doing so, imagine yourself going into the audition and nailing it. I'm not talking about a few seconds here. I'm talking about imagining with your eyes closed walking in, looking at the judges (if this isn't a blind audition), looking at your music, beginning the piece, playing the piece, finishing the piece, sight reading, and walking out. Imagine all the steps you have to take and imagine them going fantastically. Once you have finished this, do whatever else you have to do and make sure you don't think about messing up. Remember that however you do in there, it will be fine because it is your best. I'm not saying that you are actually going to go in there and do a perfect job. I'm saying that you must have confidence in yourself. Also keep in mind that if you mess up, don't focus on it. Go on as though it never happened. As long as you don't psych yourself out, you will do fine.
Other than that, get plenty of sleep the night before, make sure you eat a good breakfast, and keep your chin up. You're going to do a great job!!

Don't be you, be a rockstar.
I don't know what structure the audition will take, but if you know the piece, try to get into the emotional core of it, and be in that mindset as you play. It gives you something to think about instead of your audience, and they'll hear the emotions in the playing.
Also, if you make a mistake, play around it. Don't let it all collapse because of one thing. Of course that might work better when you're with other musicians.
Oh, and don't overdo the practice the day before. Just play enough to stay warmed up.

Don't worry about what the audience is thinking about you. It absolutely has no bearing on you as a person. Your performance--good or bad--has no bearing on your value as a person. You have infinite worth despite what happens at the audition. At your age( I assume you're young), you are putting your worth in the hands of what people or your parents or teachers or whoever think about you. It is common for young people to think this way. You could also be experiencing anxiety which is a very uncomfortable feeling. The older you get the better you will get at dealing with it. Also, they have medications that can help with anxiety. Good luck.

If you're a nervous type, eat a banana about an hour before the audition. Bananas supposedly contain an enzyme which functions similarly to beta blockers which can inhibit your "nervous" responses to things.

Get plenty of sleep the night before. Don't overeat before your audition. If the music a piece they've selected for you to play, make sure you know your part. Be a part of the music, let the music be a part of you, and your love for music will come through. :)

a million. prepare the music intently, leaving no longer something to hazard. each and every thing could desire to be so waiting, you are able to play it chilly, no depend what. This calls for you to divide your prepare up into "making waiting time" and "appearing time," a concept Galamian talks approximately in suggestions of Violin enjoying and coaching. 2. you are able to desire to make the attempt to tend on your wellness—it is, have had adequate sleep, consume potassium wealthy ingredients like bananas, do no longer consume meat, fried ingredients or dairy (vegan is superb, yet a minimum of evade heavy ingredients), and workout. yet do no longer harm your palms! i prefer to recommend strolling, lifting easy weights (I actually have a pair of four lb. chinese language barbells which i take advantage of many times, a selection of of reps) and do yoga and stretching. Swimming is likewise sturdy. Bicycling is sturdy, yet you are able to harm your palms in case you do no longer do it impressive, so be careful. a selection of of unpolluted air and sunshine and beneficial techniques. 3. Be philosophical. Why can we learn music? To make a great deal out of ourselves? No. If all people does artwork to aggrandize themselves, they are doomed from the initiating. We do artwork to be in touch with the wonderful human minds, to make splendor, and to precise the wonderful in humanity. We do it out of love. We do it simply by fact we will not do something. Given all that, so what in case you're no longer appropriate? purely god is suitable. Do your superb, provide it each and every thing you have have been given, and then make music and revel in your self. that's what counts. forget your self. 4. undergo in techniques the little issues which the listeners are going to be searching for (incredibly if one among your listeners is a conductor), and which will point out in the journey that your coaching is sweet. those incorporate stylistic accuracy, rhythmic integrity, interest to phraseology and dynamics, sturdy intonation, and musical sensibility. Bach is diverse than Brahms. Dynamics do no longer purely happen, you are able to desire to lead them to happen. each and every thing interior the score is there for a reason. Plan the bowings and phraseology earlier than time (inspite of the incontrovertible fact that some leeway is authorized for interpretive theory of the 2d). it extremely is all very perplexing artwork and time eating, yet do no longer blow any of it off and assume it to happen immediately once you bypass in to play. It won't.
