Do you think is because the people who live there are "less evolved"?( I know this sounds awful). But you can see it in the traffic for example. In letting a pedestrian cross the street. In throwing garbage on the sidewalk. There are lots of little things that people do where they show that they have little respect for the others. What do you think?

Most Third World Countries remain Third World Countries because their government leaders are corrupt. The aid comes in from America, England, France, Germany, China and other countries and the politicians manage to steal it before it goes to advance the infra-structure of the country or benifit the people.

Corrupt politicians do not want a strong Middle Class. They want the general public to remain poor. Poor people are easier to control. Therefore corrupt polititicians have no desire to advance the social standards of their people. Mexico is a prime example. The ruling party did not have problems maintaining control of the political system for generations. There problems only began when the existence of a Middle Class began to appear in Mexico.

I now live in a Third World Country and have been traveling to various countries in Asia and East Asia that are also Third World Countries and found that a lot of the problems are related to the mindset of the people. Perhaps they have given up and lost hope.

I have just returned from a visit to Thailand and found that the streets, sidewalks, etc. are far cleaner than in the Philippines. It would not be possible for the Thai Government to maintain the public areas that much better than the Philippine Government maintain their public areas so I began to pay close attention and found that the Thai people simply do not litter nor do they throw their trash out to the curb as the Philippine people do. There is a definite difference in the mindset of the Thai people and the Philippine people. The Thai people seem to demonstrate more pride in themeselves, country and surroundings.

I also believe that countries led by corrupt politicians eventually develop a society of people that view corruption as an acceptable practice. They do not disapprove of corruption that benifits their family, friends or self. They only begin to speak out when they are not reaping the benifits of the corruption.

Therefore I feel that regardless of the amount of money sent to Third World Countries in the form of financial aid for all practical purposes it produces little results until corruption is eliminated and the mindset of the people is changed. Self respect and pride does more to lift people out of poverty than anything else.

Are we really more evolved than these people? Is it the third world countried that start the major wars of this world?

All kinds of countries throw garbage in inappropriate places, and just because a country has pedestrian lights, where a pedestrian can cross by pressing a button, doesn't mean that the people riding in cars are going to stop.

Do these poorer countries feel they have it worse off than we do in the countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Canada, etc...? Well, how would they know if they don't have TV, ...or a person visiting one of the hotels that infiltrate their villages, flashing diamonds and a Saks 5th avenue wardrobe.
The only difference is the percieved lack of civilization. We all have struggles, theirs is only different. We suffer from heart attacks, cancer, and liver disease, they, aids, malaria, and undernourishment.

I am not saying that we should not help them. I believe it is our duty to help them. And I do not mean going in, establishing churches and giving them computers and tvs, and the things we have here. They need help with healthcare, crops, and animal husbandry, things that will take them out of their extreme poverty, and make life more bearable when the hardest famines hit.

3rd world countries are 3rd world countries because they are in over abundance of natural resources. However they do not have the means of which to turn these resources into something that people are going to use and benefit from. Since they can not turn there materials into something useful, they dont have lots of money, so people die of hunger and also most of these countries do not have governments with integrity so the money that they do have gets swallowed up by their governments. Anyway these 3rd world countries must export and sell what they have to the countries who can actually do something with them. The countries who buy these products are countries who are industrially advanced and are able to use the raw material and produce it into something useful. Hope this helps

Poverty. Exploitation. Lack of opportunities. There are reasons why things are kept that way. Resources will always be cheap (particularly labour), and 3rd world countries will always be kept as a peon of sorts. Everyone needs a donkey to do the dirty work.

Because they have significantly less resources avaliable.
When a country is starving to death, has no clean water, no electricity, run by drug dealers and smugglers, its people aren't likely to be walking around reciting Shakespear, listening to concertos, and checking emails on their blackberries.

all 3rd world countries are 3rd world countries.
they are they countries colonized by the 1st world, which were basically white..

you see all the things you mentioned happening in New York and we're not 3rd world.. it's the individual, many are neat and clean, hardworking and respectful---as opposed to, for instance, many US gang members, who aren't (I didn't say all)
