I would say in real life when Michael Jordan cried as he held the NBA Championship trophy just weeks or so after his dad was murdered. The most inspirational ficticious sports moment was when Roy Hobbs blasted a home run to win the game, and the ball shattered the outfield lights, as he rounded the bags in slow motion to one of the best songs ever in the movie The Natural.

"Jordan... open... Chicago with the lead!"
MJ's last shot in the Finals vs. the Jazz in '98. Faking Russell out, pausing, rising up, hanging, swishing the jumper, and posing with arm extended for a couple seconds that felt like forever. Just an incredible moment in sports history and an unbelievable way to end a career. Sure, he came back a couple years later, but I don't think that takes too much away from that moment.

Hmm...well the only one I have seen was McGwires 62nd homerun.
However, the most memorable to me from clips (excuse me if I do not remember teams) came from college football. Visiting team was losing and one TD could win. Very little time left on clock. Well, they started to lateral alot. Time ran out on the clock. The play was still going, but the band came out on the field. The ball carrier ran through the band and scored a TD and won the game. That week, NCAA decided the TD did not count do to the interference. So on the books, the home team won.

It would have to be Steve waugh's against all odd's century in his final game after seemingly everyone deserted him.It was awe inspiring because he showed determination skill and character , and this was motivational to everyone who watched it. There are alot of moments in sports that excite one or are memorable but when a champion demonstrates qualities that steve did in his last game then it could only be described as awe inspiring

1980 USA Hockey team Gold Medal win.
Jesse Owens in 1936 Games. I didn't see of course but have seen the news reels.
Tiger Woods owning all four Major Golf Trophies at once.
I am sure there are many I have missed but these stand out for me.

Well, this was awe-inspiring in a very negative way -- seeing Mike Tyson take a bite out of Evander Holyfield's ear sticks in my memory (and nightmares) the most.

RED SOX won the World Series in 2004! I thought the rapture had come. I could hardly believe it was happening!
So I'm happy with baseball pretty much forever. I don't have to worry about it happening again.

That would have to be Kerri Strug's second vault in the 1996 Olympics gymnastics team finals. She broke her ankle on the first and proceeded to do her second on one leg.
