you can try James Clavell's Shogun, Jeffrey Archer's Kane and Abel and books by Michael Connelly, Stephen King, Amy Tan, Ridley Pearson, Robert Ludlum, Richard North Patterson.

I just finished reading "The Husband" by Dean Koontz. It's suspenseful. He's a good author. Another good author it Jeffrey Deaver.
Sometimes it depends on what type of books you like. Hope this helps.

Ender's game by Orson Scott Card Is a good one. Nothing like Science fiction full of science fact and theory to stir them ol' neurons

How about some James Mitchner? Have you read any of his? His book on Africa is really good. I think it's called Centennial or something like that
