well, everyone is different! Me personally I really had no symptoms right before hand, but slowly you get more crampy sometimes lots of backpain. There is also the loss of your mucas plug, labor usually begins within 48 hours of losing that. I kinda had a weird feeling the day I went into labor, almost like I knew she was going to be coming (just had my daughter 2 months ago)

Good Luck. Sry, if I wasn't much help, but like I said, everyone is different and some women don't have any sudden symptoms. They just progress over a small period of time.

you can be dilated for awhile before you deliver. You will feel cramping like pains that don't go away when you change positions or walk. Unlike braxton Hicks - these won't go away and they will get harder and faster. When they are about 10 min. I would go to the hospital. But time them for awhile. It could take awhile too - with two of my kids it was 14 hours of labor - they also broke my water and one of them was induced. My third baby was also induced and he took a long time to actually get me to kick into labor but when they could finally break my water it only took 5 hours. He was the fastest of the three.
So, you could be in for the long haul, or you could be one of the lucky ones that has her baby fast.
either way, I wish you the best of luck and enjoy it because no matter how scary it is or how hard or how much it hurts, it is the single most wonderful experience you will ever have.

With me I had mild cramps for an entire day and about half of the next day. Then they absolutely stopped for about 5 to 6 hours. Then as me and my bf were getting ready to watch a movie I had three strong contractions out of no where. About 5 or 6 hours later I had a little boy.

it sounds like you're in labor Don't freak out. Many people can be in labor for days and not know it. Usually these people will have long labors but they usually don't get hard untill close to the end. Some people can be in labor for up to 4 days. Just pay attention to your body and keep your doctor informed. Walking can induce labor. If you want to have the baby this will help it along but don't wear yourself out, you will need all your streanth to have this baby.

Well it depends on the person...I was dialated to 3 for 2 weeks then i went to the doctor to be checked 1 week before my due date and I was dialated to 6 and never had contractions or anything...so you could be dialating and not even know, you dont necessarily have to have contractions to dialate

You may lose your mucus plug.

I walked around at 3cm forever it seemed!!!

Lots of braxton hicks contractions.....the fake kind.

Pubic bone hurts.

Pay attention to your body.....write things down

contractions that are very close together and/or your water breaks(usually doctors want the contractions to be about 5 minutes apart)
