My favorite author was V.C. Andrews, but now that I've read all the books from her that I liked: Rain, My Sweet Andrina, & the entire Flowers in the Attic series.
Maybe I should just write a book.

I have always liked Dean Koontz he has a warped style that keeps you guessing. I have also read all of the Flowers in the Attic series great series. You might consider King's works as well as John Saul. Hope this helps and of course writing a book will work to lol. Good luck whatever you decide

for horror, Stephen King, Dean Koontz and John Saul for mystery you can try Ridley Pearson, Michael Connelly, Tess Gerritsen, Patricia Cornwell, Harlan Corben, Sandra Brown

Try Phil Rickman's Merrily Watkins mysteries. Heavier on the mystery than the horror, but the horror is never far away, and the supernatural is always present. Extremely well-written books at that.

Try reading Tami Hoag. She used to be a romance writer & began writing in the mystery genre. She wrote a sequel entitled, "Nigt Sins" & "Guilty as Sin." If you get bored return to the classics. My latest favorite is Charles Dickens "David Copperfield."

James Patterson is downright scary. You should try any of his Alex Cross books (Kiss the Girls, it was made into a movie with Morgan Freeman).
Stuart Woods writes good misteries too. I live Woods because he answers fan emails.

Try Richard Laymon or Graham Masterton. They are just as twisted as V.C. Andrews.

I believe the two between the previous solutions. It sounds sturdy as a short tale or writing instantaneous, yet no longer as an entire novel. and that i additionally concept-relating to the action picture the ring impressive away.
