i got a very special gift for a very special friend. its been almost a year since i gave the gift and well.. they let me know they lost it the other night at baseball game. my friend was very upset about it and very sorry. but...what i wanna know is...do i get my friend another one?

it's not something that you have to do, but if you do buy another one, im sure they will be happy.

No. You have already done the good deed by giving the gift. The unfortunate situation of their loss is entirely their fault, not yours.
