I had to come back in here & modify my answer after i see all these above answers....
What's wrong w/ these folks????? It's still wrong...regardless how close or not close you both are...
That's one rule me & my girls have: We don't date each other's exes, crushes or even their old/current "friends w/ benefits". Even if we're not friends anymore that's just not cool...I see alot of people now-a-days must think this is cute but let's be real..it's not.
It could've possibly been overlooked if you didn't know they ever dated & y'all hooked up, but you do know....

IMe personally? If the relationship is over, she shouldn't worry about it. It's not like you got with him 3 days after they split. You waited 3 years. From my experiences, that's a world record. She should be over him by now. If ya'll love each other, God bless and good luck.
But there's that rule: You shouldn't date your friends ex. Some people live by that statement and some don't care. It all depends on how your friend's view are on this type of thing. If she don't care, you're good. If she does, you're screwed.
I do wish you happiness though. If you were my friend, I wouldn't care.

Hon, it's been 3 years... if she isn't over him by now, it's never gonna happen. He deserves a life after her...so why not with you? If the subject ever comes up between you, don't be apologetic... it's life. I'm hoping that she's mature enough to not expect him to die because they're not together anymore!! There are other, more important things to worry about, like.... what color will your bridesmaids wear?? :)

I guess it depends on how valuable your friendship is. However, I as a rule, would never risk a friendship by dating a friends ex no matter how tempted I might be. Remember Karma - what goes around comes around and what if this happened to you?

If you have the word friend in quotation marks, I don't think you have to worry. You've already put her out of your mind and life, so unless she starts making a big deall out of it, I wouldn't worry. If you and your b/f are doing great(which is what it sounds like! Congrats!) then she really has nothing to say to you about it.
