multiply by -1 and switch the inequality sign the other way

1. add -4 to the 3 and switch the sign, therefor -x <-1, so +x > 1. i think its something like that.
-x>-1 = x<-1 i think still not sure though. did this last year in math.

Multiply each side by -1 to make it neat.

x < 1

You doing perfect! Since BOTH sides have a negative you just get rid of it. So then x must be greater than 1.
