You see so many kids in here asking for homework help, and it makes me wonder just HOW we "older folk" ever got along without the wonder invention of the decade, the PC?

I don't need grammer corrections, thank you, I just choose not to use proper grammer sometimes.

To be honest, I hate the fact that we did not have google and wikipedia back in the day (I graduated in 1992). We did have PCs but the most complex software we used except for AutoCAD was PFS:Write and Lotus 123.
The worst thing about the homework questions is that they are making no effort to break them down. Some simply paste the exact question as asked in class, like "Explain the four themes that prevailed in [insert some classic book here]." Even worse, 99% of the time they are asking about cool books that everyone should read, and most of these are not even hard at all.
There was one kid asking about Grisham's The Client, a book that you can read in two sittings without even trying.

I was begining to wonder that myself. I hit my cousin for help in Algebra often.
I'm 44 and I did much better in College than in High School. I majored in Piano and Vocal Performance and really applied myself. Majoring in music is far different than most subjects. Not only do you have to hit the books, but you also have to spend many hours practicing.
The computer was just coming into light when I graduated High School. It has really come a long way in a short period of time.

I am in high school, so my guess is that kids spend too much time on the computer and most of it is not for education. We are all addicted to Myspace, which is sad. Education levels have also risen so what you would learn as a senior, we are now learning as sophomores.

What I am wondering is why their parents are letting them on the computer when their homework is not done. Or why the parents aren't helping them. SAD

As an almost 50 something, I had to study and ask my teachers for help.

Great question! Look at the way some of them spell and you'll see just what our educational system has degenerated to.

It's "we" thirty somethings and I guess we had to go to the library and read reference books. But back then we had less homework. I guess it all evens out.

We got through the "old fashioned" way. We went to the LIBRARY and we read ENCYCLOPEDIAS. But we got through it. Kids these days don't necessarily easier, they just have different ways to do things. I don't think it makes us or them smarter. :)
