there's some movie about a monster in a lake and some kids give it some oreos and it only eats the cream and leaves the chocolate cookie part.

Vaguely....I can't remember the movie though.
EDIT: Yeah, I feel as though an oreo scene did happen in Free Willy.
Magic in the Water seems to be the famous one, though. I can't remember seeing a movie by that name, but the monster I saw in the pic on IMDB.com seems familiar and I was only 9 when it came out anyway.

Magic in the water, with Mark Harmon. It was filmed in a pretty town in BC not far from I live. I remember when they filmed it.
