There is a spray called ShoeStretch which can be found in shoe stores near the checkout. It works on leather, vinyl and fabric shoes. Spray both inside and outside of shoes, and wear until dry. Repeat if needed.
If the shoes can stand being wet, get them wet, and then stuff them with crumpled newspaper or grocery bags until they are stretched out enough. Let dry overnight. Repeat if needed.
You can also try lining the part that cuts your foot with bandaids or moleskin inside the shoe. Moleskin can be bought at a drugstore or Walmart where they sell the Dr. Scholls stuff.

sounds like you may have a high in-step (i do as well) and sometimes it's hard to get certain styles of shoes to fit well. if it's cutting you across the top of your foot you may have to give these cool mules up and shop for some new ones. i have scads of shoes, many of them mules, and have learned from past experience what type of shoe will work for me and my high in-steps. try going for a lower cut mule, or ones that have some cushioning on the inside. also try the little 1/2 sockies that cover only the front 1/2 of your foot/toe area. best of luck in your search for comfortable shoes!! (it shouldn't hurt to walk!)

You can try to get them stretched at a shoe place or for a cheaper way you can spray rubbing alchol underneath the part that is bothering for the inside of the shoe and it might stretch for you wearing them. Its tight beacuse you have a high instep or arch because thats what happens to me when I wear clogs of mules.
