If you are from out of state and take a California job, do you have to get a California driver license within 10 days?

Generally, you must convert your license within 10 days of being a resident of California.

There are some exceptions. For example, if you are doing a short term consulting gig, and staying at a hotel (with a home somewhere else), then you might not count as a resident under California laws.

If you think there are any special exceptions that might apply, you should consult with a licensed attorney to make sure.

I think it's up to the expiration of your current license, some one else thinks 10 to 30 days, maybe you should look at the DMV website. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/faq/faq.htm#OL
Good Luck
