I don't think he did it personally..but he did apologized for his mistakes to the public..apologizing for your mistake is the right thing to do..and Zidane did it..and since he did it publicly,I think that perhaps he did mean to apologize to Materazzi..who knows?? Zidane is a good guy by the way..and he is one of the best football player that ever walked on Earth!!..anyway,what matters is Zidane apologized for his mistakes, which proves that he is indeed a good guy,the best football player and a man with pride and honour! and that's the player that I admire..! but then, come to think of it,Zidane did say that he won't apologize to Materazzi because apologizing to him means that what he had said to Zidane is right..so perhaps Zidane didn't apologize to Materazzi and never will..well,at least he apologized to the public..that's more than enough to prove that he is a kind-hearted guy!

He said in a French interview that if he apogolized then that would mean Materazzi was right for what he said. (Which obviously, Materazzi isn't right). So he apologized to the children watching but not to Materazzi personally. At least that's what the translation on the video said. People need to understand where Zidane is comming from. He is a good person who just got pissed off and humiliated a guy for something he shouldn't have said.

Matrix-Zizou set for peace? Monday 11 September, 2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FIFA are ready to fly Marco Materazzi and Zinedine Zidane to South Africa in an attempt for the two players to archive their World Cup Final spat.
Zidane was sent off in the defeat to Italy for head-butting the Inter defender in the chest after the latter verbally abused the playmaker.
Although the Frenchman has insisted that he has no intention of apologising to Matrix, FIFA President Sepp Blatter has other ideas.
In what would be one of the oddest reconciliation stunts of all time, Blatter wants the two men to make peace at the South African prison where Nelson Mandela was held.
"We are working on bringing together Materazzi and Zidane," Blatter stated.
"There are different possibilities and one of them is Robben Island in South Africa where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years.
"This would bring to an end this story between Materazzi and Zidane," continued the official.
"It is a pity that the World Cup ended with a red card and also by taking kicks from the penalty spot, but we have no other solution."
Zidane was banned for three games and handed a community service sentence as punishment for his antics. Materazzi was given a two-game stop.

Has Materazzi ever sincerely apologized to Zidane? Zidane acted irrationally, but Materazzi provoked him, there is no innocent party in this situation.
I live in South Africa and herd that FIFA are planning on bringing then to Robbin Island to reconcile. Lets hope it works for them!
In case you do not know, the entire island was once inhabited by prisoners, Nelson Mandela was held captive there.

No.
There's no reason for him to do so. Materazzi started it by continually tugging at Zidane's shirt when he's not supposed to be doing stuff like that.
