Bleach will take out stains; care full, bleach can also destroy things if to much is used. Ammonia will kill all germs and destroy dust.

Bleach whitens, kills germs, and deodorizes. Ammonia is really just good for deodorizing and cleaning glass surfaces and floors. Bleach does a better job than ammonia, but because of it's whitening properties, there are times when you just can not use bleach. There are many other non-bleaching deodorizers on the market... such as Lysol or Pine sol, so I don't use ammonia much because it has a really awful smell.

To bleach something is to remove or lighten its color; a "bleach" is a chemical that can produce these effects, often via oxidation. Common chemical bleaches include sodium hypochlorite, or "chlorine bleach," and "oxygen bleach," which contains hydrogen peroxide or a peroxide-releasing compound such as sodium perborate or sodium percarbonate. "Bleaching powder" is calcium hypochlorite. Bleaching may be a preliminary step in the process of dyeing.

Ammonia is a compound of nitrogen and hydrogen with the formula NH3. At standard temperature and pressure, ammonia is a gas. It is toxic and corrosive to some materials, and has a characteristic pungent odor. Ammonia used commercially is called anhydrous ammonia to distinguish it from ammonium hydroxide solution, which is household ammonia.

An ammonia molecule has a trigonal pyramid shape, as predicted by VSEPR theory. This shape gives the molecule an overall dipole moment, and makes it polar so that ammonia readily dissolves in water. The nitrogen atom in the molecule has a lone electron pair, and ammonia acts as a base. That means that, when in aqueous solution, it can take a proton from water to produce a hydroxide anion and an ammonium cation (NH4+), which has the shape of a regular tetrahedron. The degree to which ammonia forms the ammonium ion depends on the pH of the solution—at "physiological" pH (~7), about 99% of the ammonia molecules are protonated.

The main uses of ammonia are in the production of fertilizers, explosives and polymers. It is also an ingredient in certain household glass cleaners. Ammonia is found in small quantities in the atmosphere, being produced from the putrefaction of nitrogenous animal and vegetable matter. Ammonia and ammonium salts are also found in small quantities in rainwater, while ammonium chloride (sal-ammoniac) and ammonium sulfate are found in volcanic districts; crystals of ammonium bicarbonate have been found in Patagonian guano. Ammonium salts also are found distributed through all fertile soil and in seawater. Substances containing ammonia, or that are similar to it, are called ammoniacal.

Use bleach on non-protein stains like grass and Ammonia on protein stains like vomit or blood. If you use bleach on a protein stain it will not all come out and likely turn a greenish color. You can use ammonia in the laundry as long as you do not ever mix bleach with it. It makes a powerful "mustard like" gas that can be fatal.

Ammonis is a grease cutter. In laundry It dissolves the grease or oils from the clothing especially if the water is warm. I use it to get the yellow wax stains out of old cotton pillow cases. It also works on yellowed men's underwear if chlorine doesn't work. Don't use ammonia and chlorine at the same time!

bleach is a whitener and a disinfectant. Ammonia is a disinfectant and is what is in windex. Never mix ammonia and bleach when cleaning this can make you quite ill. you can use bleach for whites to get them whiter. Never on colors of course. And you can add a little to your bucket with water and clean and disinfect areas in your home but use it sparingly or you may become ill.
