me and my husband are thinking about moving from las vegas to boise idaho.
the thing is,that in vegas we make a lot of money....
we want to move because of crime and education.we would like to have kids in the future, and the education here is not that good.and plus all the gumbling, sex and drugs problems.
in boise we have my husband's family, but we will loose a lot of money by doing that.....
what do you think????

Happiness is found where you choose to find it. The external aspects of any community are always going to be there. It all depends on what you are looking for.
If your family values are key to you and your happiness -- you will find that whereever you live.

If you can afford to move to Boise, Idaho, then go for it. Just keep in mind when moving to another state, although the lifestyle may be different for you and your family, the cost of living may also be lower in Boise than in Las Vegas. Whatever you make in Las Vegas won't be the same as in Boise and if this means moving to Boise you will lose lots of money, then it's something you and your family will have to discuss. Good luck with your decision!

I applaud your decision to move to a more wholesome place to raise kids - I recently moved from California to Oklahoma for the same reason. Be adventurous and take a chance! (You can always move back if you don't like it)
According to the attached link, Boise is 11% cheaper than Las Vegas, so if your combined income is $100k in Vegas you can get by with $89k in Boise.
You might also want to tempt yourself by checking out realtor.com and seeing what type of house you could afford in/around Boise!

We are in a similar situation but no quite the same. The crime, heat, and frankly the greed that surrounds and is inundated in the Vegas area are more then we can stand anymore and are looking for another area in which to live. We have extensively checked into the Idaho area as well as a multitude of other areas and have actually picked it for a relocation move because of the quality of life, less crime and cost of living. My suggestion to you especially in light of wanting to start a family, MOVE! Idaho is a great choice!

Well you must know Vegas better than someone who isn't from there. Unfortunately crime and drugs are everywhere. All we can do is educate our children to the best of our ability and hope and pray they make the right decisions in life and stay out of harms way. The plus side is that you will be closer to family, and that is very important when raising your children. Your children need to be close to their grandparents, aunts, uncles and especially their cousins, needless to say you and your husband also will need them close bye.

As a matter of fact, my family and I are in the same situation, we live in Vegas (I'm a Native) and I would like to relocate, the school's are terrible and it's become overwhelming. My husband and I know we won't make the same $$ , but family is more important, it really is a hard place to bring up children, morally people have gone bankrupt here!!!! good luck to you. if you find greener grass let me know....
