They are stages at each point of a pregnancy. Doctors say a normal pregnancy is 40 weeks or some say depends on when your pregnant between 9 and a half to ten months. There is the first trimester which is the beginning, second is the middle and third is the end. Most of the uncomfortable stuff happens in the first, morning sickness, mild cramping ect.., the second usually isnt to bad you just start getting a belly and it gets bigger and the third you are usually tired and getting even bigger cause the baby is growing. You even start having braxton hicks contractions to get your uterus ready. Then the baby is here.

A full term pregnancy is 40 weeks long, roughly 9 months. Doctors divide the 9 months in to three equal parts. Therefore 9 months divided by 3 gives you three months. Each three month period is called a trimester.

1 - 3 months - first trimester
4 - 6 months - second trimester
7 - 9 months - third trimester
