I noticed this a lot, and it's very annoying. If you didn't hear what I said, why not just say "what" like normal people? And if anyone answers with "dowhat", I'll..I'll...I don't know. I'll suprise you, and you'll never know what hit you!

well some people say it because they r use 2 saying it and a lot of people i know that say both, but i think older people say ''do what'' more then younger people, because younger people say ''what'' more...... and i say ''what'' a lot but the only time i say ''do what'' is when people tell me 2 do something and if i didn't hear them correctly i would say ''do what''.... so that's how i say it..... but that is how people are raised or how people is use 2 saying it.... well i hope my answer will help u out, god bless!!!!

If it's that annoying, Why carry on a conversation with that person? Tell them how you feel. No one can answer for that person or explain that person's reasoning for speaking as they do.
Why do you speak the way that you do?

It doesn't mean that they're not NORMAL because people doesn't speak the same way that you do.

People all over the World are different, carry different accents, pronounce words differently and the dialect can be altered...like how do you explain EBONICS ...which can be repulsive?.. but hey, it's their choice to speak that way. NORMAL PEOPLE.

Stop stereotyping everyone from the south, it's idiotic! I'm from the south and nobody says "dowhat" (What part of the south did you hear this from? I bet it was annoying as hell, though!)

I'm not from the south but most everyone I know including myself say 'do what'. So what, it's not near as annoying as a lot of the things people say!

When we say "what?", it means we didn't hear all that you said and need you to repeat it. When we say "do what?", it means that we have found surprise and disbelief in what you have said. Next time someone says, "do what?", answer..."I KNOW, right?". It's silly but for some, it's a cute southern thing.
