They have players like Giggs, Ole, Bellamy - all world class footballers. Whereas a team like USA gets free ticket to the World Cup. Pathetic!

You cant compare Wales and USA and their qualifying for the WC because they're completely different. USA did not have the same quality opponents - except maybe Mexico - to compete with. Wales had to compete against a few other countries for a place and they couldn't even do that... Pathetic!!

Wales is not that great as the first answer points out! Just because they have players that perform well in club football doesnt mean theyll be the same in International play! Plus Giggs himself never accomplished anything and Ole and bellamy are better then average players. Wales is no big deal look at teh world ranking on fifa.com furthermore I personally think Mexico and the USA would be able to kick there butt! ohh but i do think that USA gets a free ticket to about every WC but Mexico has proven themselves to be a contending side!

Wales is not that great of a team, if you look at their group for the last world cup, it had England, Poland, Northern Ireland, Austria and Azerbaijan (not exactly the group of death here) and they only managed to win 2 games, once against Azerbaijan and squeeked by Northern Ireland, if Wales can't defeat these teams how do you expect them to compete in the world cup again the best in the world?
Even going back to the 2002 worl cup qualifying Wales managed 1 win in the group that was again a little soft (Poland, Belarus, Normay, Armenia and Ukraine)
It's true that the US and Mexico are almost guaranteed a spot in Concacaf but Mexico has proved themselves at the World cup, and the US has had decent showings.

why would it be harsh? regardless of individual talent like giggs, and the likes, it's all based on how the team plays as a whole. if you can't win enough to make it through, then i'm sorry.
