probably the texas chainsaw massacre.. because.....

i've never heard of carrie..
the hills have eyes.. was.. one of the worse movies i have ever seen in my entire life.. it was terrible.
when a stranger calls.. was.. well a little lame..

i think you should put amityville horror on this, because i thought that remake was better than the first one.. it was good.

All these answers stink. Theya re very few remakes that are as good as the original. Unless the original really stunk. Especially classic like Carrie.

I guess King Kong was better than the original, but it was made 60 years later. That is a long time. But to tell you the truth, I kinda like the storyline better in the old version. Modern movies sometimes fall into the trap of relying too much on special effects.

Amityville Horror. I haven;t seen When a Stranger Calls yet, but I really want to. I thought The Hills Have Eyes was garbage.

All remakes suck with two exceptions:

1. Stephen Somers' "The Mummy".
2. Retellings of classic literature *IF* it is story-based, not just an excuse to create more violent scenes (eg. Shakespeare).

In every other case, the hacks - oops, the director and producer - try to "add" or "improve" something, or in the case of "Psycho", remake the thing shot for shot.

Somers' added something original to the story, characters and plot, not just the special effects. That's what's made it special.
