Element 110 is Darmstadtium, named after the city in Germany where it was made. Element 111 is Roetengentium, named after the scientist who discovered X-Rays. These are the elements that have been named. But there is also Element 114 that has not been named yet. I don't think element 112 or 113 have been made yet or at least it has not been validated if they have been made.

So you can say that there are 111 named elements. Of these 91 are natural elements ending with Uranium, which is element 92. The reason there are 91 natural elements is that element 43, Technitium, is a radioactive element with no stable isotopes.

As an aside, I've had Technitium medronate injected into my blood stream. It emits gamma rays, which are used to detect parts of your heart that are not getting enough oxygen, since it is accumulated in the parts of the heart that do get enough oxygen. That allows cardiologist to determine if surgery is needed. I had to have five stents installed in my heart. Neat operation. I was fully awake the whole time and could see them inserting the stents in my blood vessels on the TV monitor. Cool! Didn't hurt a bit.

Technitium has a half life of 6 hours so it is rapidly eliminated from your body.

There are 118 elements in the periodic table, but only 116 are known to exist or have been created synthetically, i.e. in the lab. You can say that there are 90 naturally existing elements because technetium and promethium have no stable isotopes and were not seen until created in the lab. Talking about an element as "really important" is arbitrary. Lots of elements are important for your body to function. There's many more elements that are important in technology, and these technologies can be beneficial (silicon in computers) or destructive (plutonium in nuclear bombs). There's probably at least 50 elements an average resident of a developed country would find essential, but that's my conservative estimate.

I think it's 110, but they're always creating new elements so soon there will be more.

can't you look that up? you are online... they're all important, if you ask me... I counted 112. 90 occur naturally. I looked it up.
