Well for starters you have only ask about the movies- so I will have to tell you of all the movies the 3rd was my favorite. Here is why- It kept fairly close to the book ( way more close than the 4th movie), Harry and Ron both really mature as actors in this movie- and various sides of Harrys personality start to develop in this movie. The downside is the original Dumbuldore is not acting in this movie and the new Dumbledore is a rather pathetic stand in for the old one. The new one shows his power by pushing people and yelling a lot- The Dumbledore in the book and in the first two movies had a lot of power but his very presence commanded the power and he spoke softly- this new Dumbledore is almost irritating.
Now I will just add about the books they get better and better, the plot becomes increasingly clever, dark and enchanting (with the exception of the Order of Phonix- which I understand the author had to show Harry going through teenage years and had to cram a lot into the book- but I like the other better)- While the latest movie tended to focus on the relationship between Ron and Hermoine which really is a side issue of the book- It was a huge disappointment. That and having the dragon chasing Harry all over the place was just dumb- the dragon would never have left its egg- other wise Harry could have just conjured up something to get the dragon to chase it while he waited for the dragon to fly around chasing this thing and just walked over and grabed the egg- there are a million examples of the stupidity of this last movie. Oh and I might add- put the actors back into their wizards clothes- The book makes it very clear that a lot of wizards and witches do not even know how to dress in muggle clothes- so why are the students running around Hogwarts in muggle clothes- It is suppose to be a different world It irritates me that the director has them looking like trendy teenagers from the highschool.

Sorceror's Stone had a magic to it that has not been duplicated in later movies. It was the music and the whole world finally brought to life that was just so exciting!

So that is hands down my favorite, however... I just loved GOF!!!

Oh, man the size of it all! The action the drama. I think for a Harry Potter movie, it one of the best they have made. (Granted I would have loved to S.P.E.W. and where the hell did Dobby and Winky go???)

Plus they made Neville look great in the movie.

I think the Harry Potter movies are only going to get better and better...

I just can't wait to see it again on an IMAX screen.

Prisoner of Azkaban. Although my favorite book, without a doubt, is the Order of the Phoenix. I'm a little apprehensive when they make that one into a movie since they seem to be steering more and more away from the books.

However, if you think about it, the fact that they don't stick to the books helps to give clues as to what might or might not happen in the end. Surely they wouldn't make the final outcome of the 7th movie / book differ. So if you compare the books to the movies and think about how the differences or omissions impact the entire storyline, it helps to narrow the possibilities in book 7.

Harry Potter of the Chamber of Secrets!

I loved Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy; OMG he was fantastic! So aristocratic and menacing. Richard Harris was the perfect guy to play Dumbledore too. He had an almost regal presence. He was believable as the wise, compassionate, and powerful Headmaster of Hogwarts. Michael Gambon is just goofy and lame. Ian McKellen would've been a much better replacement in my opinion. Anyway, I liked the dueling club scene, Lockhart was funny, Alan Rickman rocked as Snape, the polyjuice potion scene was great, we got to see the young Voldemort and the Chamber scene was cool too.

I'd have to say Goblet of Fire because the movie has better music, the kids are cuter in the movie and in real life, there's some more new people, the story is darker and yeah! Oh, there's much more action and its funnier to, the part where Snape hits Harry and Ron! Also, Snape is much HOTTER too!

I had the good sense to hold off on reading the books because otherwise my judgement would be severely clouded. Of the 4 movies out so far my favorite is the 2nd. I was disappointed with the 3rd because it was under 2 hrs; but it had the best twist in the series so far.

My favorite book in the series and movie so far has been The Goblet of Fire. Such a great climax at the end of that story. Just when you think the story is over at the end of the maze, then they get transported, and then we all know what happens next! Simply great story telling and movie making. That was when I knew that reading the earlier books (movies) was all worth it!
