Im 24 weeks. I work full time and be standing all day 8 hour shift. People tell me that if you stand a lot you will have your baby ahead of time. Is this true or is it another old wives tale??

If you are in reasonably good health and have no other complications being on your feet for extended periods of time should be no problem (attempt to move around a bit instead of just standing or get premission to use a stool to sit occassionally should you get fatigued and for added comfort as you progress most employers are happy to oblige.... It will not cause early term labor in and of it self...

Keep a close eye on your health and consult with your physician at your regular check ups and report any changes in the way your legs feel.. And all should progress well...

When I was expecting my first child I was working as a cashier at a drug store... My boss got a stool for me to sit on from my 5th month- 8.5 months when I went on maternety leave... I was able to rest my legs between customers without comprimising my productivity... It worked out wonderfully for all involved...

Talk to your employer most are happy to make accomidations for employees...

I don't think this is true, sounds like another old wives tale; however, you can always ask the next time you see your doctor. Also, if your standing 8 hours you might want to sit down and relax whenever you get a break...you don't want to put too much pressure on your ankles. I did that one time and my legs started to hurt like every night.

This is definitely an old wives tale. I worked from 12 hrs a day when i was pregnant and had my baby a week before my due date. the exercise did help my labor go by really fast (30 min.)

I believe its an old wives tale but you may want to ask your doctor.
I worked all during my pregnancy, stood 7-8 hours per day in 110 degree heat swinging a sledge hammer. I still had to be induced.

That's an old wives tale. I worked 10 hour days managing a restaurant when I was pregnant. I was always on my feet.

My baby was born at almost 39 weeks, so granted she was a little bit early but she also weighed 8lbs,2oz.

I stand all the time at work too, I am 29 weeks and I have never heard of that one. Altough my old hair dresser had her baby 6 weeks early like 2 days after my son was born. I really don't know what to believe but I do hope you can sit down for moments on end. I know that I have to . ITs so your ankles won't get fat and swollen and its good for your benifit too!

im sure this was an old wives tale, i stood all day at work and was overdue, lol
if you are having other concerns such as swelling feet, you may ask your employer if you could use a stool to sit on. my feet swelling was the biggest problem i noticed from standing for long periods of time

This would be an old wives tale for sure! How old are you Sweetie? Do you take adequate breaks at work? Do you elevate your feet whenever possible? Make sure you do. Once in a while....... while those feet are elevated, a nice foot massage would be a comforting, soothing and healthy treat. Hello, Daddy! Hint! Hint!

I'm a mom of 2 kids a 7 yr old boy and a 3 yr old girl and I'm also pregnant with my 3rd. I worked full time with both my kids and it was a nursing job so I was always on my feet. My son and daughter were both born on there exact due dates. So trust me standing is not a issue just a wise tail.

old wives tale
but it gives a lot of pressure on your lower back. try to find some minutes of rest, sit down, try also not to stand on one spot, but walk a little bit, and finally when standing - stand on both feet, not
'jump" from one to the other.
