Yes. However, it will get stale faster.

To test the hypothesis, put one loaf in the refrigerator and another in the bread box and observe them periodically until one gets moldy.

Yes, bread kept in the refrigerator will take longer to mold than one in a breadbox. Take 2 slices from the same loaf and place them in plastic bags. Put one in the refrigerator and one in the bread box. Check them everyday till bot develop mold.

You may also want a contol. So take a piece of bread and leave it out in the open.

Yep. Bread stays fresh longer in the ref than in breadbox. it even stays fresh longer if placed in the freezer. Test it yourself
