What do quarterbacks wear underneath their eyes that black paste or something?

It's eye black, and it's worn so that the light from either the sun or from the lights in the stadium doesn't reflect off the cheekbone into your eye (black absorbs all light).

In the old days it was black shoe polish today most use a stick on type of black face paint.
It is used to keep the glare from the sun or the lights down.

Not just QB's use it, most players use it so the sun reflects off og it and does not get in their eyes.
