not a good one. what is the max ? min ?

Check the back of the battery for information like battery model etc.
Most will have terms like 4-cell, 6-cell, 56WHr, 29WHr.
Then go to your notebook vendors website (Dell, HP, Apple etc) and check the support section and search for battery model number etc.

My laptop will last about 2 hours of heavy use, and in stand by, probably about 8 hours.

Depends on the laptop and also your settings
If it goes into standby mode, then it does use much juice from the battery.
Also if the disks or screen turns off..it will last longer

Most Laptops will go into sleep mode after a certain amount of time. So the time it will stay good is unlimited.

w/o going into stand by, i guess it'll be 6-8 hours max
if you watching a DVD or something, it's gonna be like 4-6

mine goes into standby after a certain amount of time running on battery, but if its in standby it should last awhile
