The ad was part of the "Keep America Beautiful" drive in the early 70s. The tag line at the end when the crying Indian turned his head was, "People start pollution; people can stop it." I have seen it on TV Land a few times, and I think VH1 has featured it on the "I love the 70's" series. (Note: the actor in the commercial, Iron Eyes Cody, died in January 1999. Check Wikipedia for a bio.)

It was about keeping America beautiful and a statement against pollution. The Indian Chief is looking at litter and debris and he is sad about that. Do a google search on pollution/Indian/commercial

It was an ecology-based commercial. The Indian was sad about the environment. Good luck finding it. After this many years it's probably going to be kind of hard. You might try TV land, since they deal with old television and commercials.

It was a fantastic public service commerical. The Indian man was crying because people were littering and polluting the environment. It made a huge impact on me at least. "people start pollution, people can stop pollution" was the slogan. You can see the actual video clip @ the addresses listed below.

I think I found it on the Advertising Educational Foundation website: http://www.aef.com/exhibits/social_responsibility/ad_council/2278
It would be "The Crying Indian" ad, from 1974. I haven't finished downloading RealPlayer yet, so I don't know for sure if this is it.

Do you remember the one from the gender pay gap commercial in the 70's that had Batman and Robin tied to a bomb and Batgirl came in to save them, but wanted equal pay?
I wish I could find it online...if you know, drop me a message.

It was an anti-litter commercial and the 'Indian' wasn't an Indian. Weird huh.
