the slope is the m. so look and see what the slope is......
the b is the y coordinate in the point given. see if that helps you without giving the answer away!!!!!

In this case, m is the slope, which is -4. If you substitute -4 for m, you get y=-4x+b. Plug in the numbers -7 for x and -5 for y and solve for b. Now you have both the values for m and b.

Substitute the x and y into the equation to find the y-intercept (b).
-5=(-4)(-7)+b
-5=28+b
-33=b
m is given as -4 and you solve for the y-intercept b, which is -33.

the parts of a slope are rise and run
rise is the dots going up, run is the dots going sideways
m is the slope and b is the y intercept
if the slope is only one number, you put the number over one
if the rise is negative go down
if the run is negative go left
