I don't think it is necessary to go into answering every question - but I can make it really simple for you. I work for Nextel so my dealings with customers is what I will relay. I was with Verizon for over 6 years prior to working for Nextel, and I would pay far more for a company that offers a wide network and good phones. Verizon fit the bill with both - cost - well you get what you pay for. My plans were very reasonable - so there is not that big of a difference. I have heard nothing but compliants on Cingular - the coverage is not so great - and they fall middle of the pack as far as cell carriers. Be smart go with the one that has the best coverage - Verizon!

casa2 has it right. Who works where you need it. It doesn't matter what type of phone as long as it works for you. I don't get question 5. Sounds like the operating system you are referring to is on the phone itself. Each phone operating system is a little different. As for the operating systems of the carriers they are definitely different except for Cingulars UMTS platform which uses wideband CDMA like Verizon.

if you are getting a cell phone primarily to call, you missed the most important question you need answered. who has the best coverage in the areas that you use the phone the most, not just sf, but specifically what street. it might work on 1 street and have a dead spot on yours.
