Does anyone know how much it costs to replace the dc jack on a laptop. I just talked to Geeksquad online...what idiots, you have to call the store. they can't even give an estimate.

Any way, if any computer techs are online, I'm just looking for an idea, not an exact dollar figure;) thanks

It will need to be resoldered.. ouch. Laptops are often really hard to get apart cause theyr' so compact so it might ad half an hour onto the labour costs... I'd say it'd cost you aroud the $100 dollar mark, I wouldnt pay ANY mmore than that, here in new zealand we would charge about $80-$90NZD so dont let yourself get ripped off!!!

What is your laptop make and model?? Each one is different, and It would be hard to come up with even a ballpark figure without that information. Labor usually runs about $65.00 per hour. I would guess a job like that would take about 2 hours to complete.

If it's just the power cord/converter, it'll probally be about 20-50 bucks.
If its the part on your laptop the the connects to, that's a whole different story, which may require labor to fix the broken part.
