when I visited Texas, people asked me if I lived in an Igloo. Is that pure ignorance? or spite?

Americans do not hate Canadians, but they think they are superior to Canadians. I have lived in the States for ten years and people do make fun of me for being a Canadian, but it is in good fun. I always say "at least no one hates Canadians" or mentioning that Canada should change their national motto to "don't confuse us with that country everybody hates." They laugh. No one in the USA hates Canada...at least no one I met.

Some, not all Americans may hate the Canadians for the very same reason why some of these loonies hate the British. You see, they tend to hate anyone who voices their opinion on a or any subject, and they sure hate a person who stands for peace and not war, for logic and not haste. It's like talking to a brick wall if you think they will listen or give you an honest answer to your question. So i wouldn't bother 'too' much! Also, the Brits love Canada, we love the people and we love your beautiful country.

I can't speak for All Americans. However myself personally I think America is Blessed to have a Neighbor to our North we can count on in our times of need. As I hope Canada Knows they can count on America. I'm sure there are Americans who bash Canada as well as Canadians that bash the US but, Overall I think Both countries have a Great relationship in both trade, defense, ect. If I couldn't Live in America my second choice would be Canada. Aside from ALL that Canada gave us Shania Twain!!!!!!!!

Your information must be wrong. I have met some very nice Canadian people on the web. They are totally friendly. I am an American and always enjoy chatting with these people. I would hope the feeling is mutual.

I don't hate Canadians. Canada is a beautiful country. My family has spent many summers fishing and hunting there. Cigarettes are expensive but other than that I can't think of anything.

The US and Canada have one of the largest unfenced borders in the world. They have always maintained friendly relations with the US. During the hostage crisis in the 80s, many of our servicemen managed to escape and were "hidden" by the Canadian government until it was safe to return to the states.
Where do you get such utter nonsense?

I thought it was the other way around, that Canadians hated those of us who live south of the border.
My father was born in Toronto. I have always been sorry that he neglected to get dual citizenship for his offspring.
I still think that Simcoe, Ontario, has Canada's prettiest girls and that the nicest guys live in Cayuga.
