I am 38 weeks and for a few weeks off and on I have been experiencing a pain like the baby is cutting his way out with a knife. Since Sunday morning it has been constant and nothing helps. the doctor gave me vicodin and it wont even help anymore. she says it is just growing pains witch could be because he is over 8 pounds already.has anyone ever experienced this? It is so painful I cant walk without hunching. I can't sleep, in a bed or a recliner. It is PAINFUL!!!

The vicodin is the same strength I get after my C Section while breastfeeding so I am guessing my doctor knows it safe. it is only 5/500 (5mg vicodin/500mg tylenol) Pretty weak really

Wow, Im sorry you are having such bad pains, I am however shocked that your OB/GYN put you on Vicodin, that is unbelieveable, I would think with the pain your are in that they would have wanted to be alittle more pro active then just giving you drugs....
Honestly you are 38 wks, I would call my OB, hopefull you will get the oncall LOL and tell them you are in such pain that you cannot walk upright, and you cant get comfortable, hopefully they would suggest you go into the hospital to get checked out...
obviously you are beyond the worry window of the baby not doing well, and since your baby is estimated over 8lbs, I would be wanting the pain to resolve, ie delivery...
Good luck, keep calling the doc, it will motivate him/her to get you in and checked out.
PS I still cant believe they put you on vicodin.

I felt the same thing with my first child...it was horrible, i actualy went to the hospital to have another ultra sound done just to make sure there wasn't anything wrong...there wasn't much that would help..try getting the baby to change positions, and laying on your side with a pillow under your belly...im surprised they gave you vicodin..they usualy don't like using anything stronger than tylonol...

Dear Melissa:
I couldn't help but see your urgent request and I am afraid I don't have an answer for you. However; if I did the math correctly you are almost there and that bouncing 8-pound baby will be by your side soon. Until that time have you tried taking warm baths to help relieve your pain.
God Bless you and yours.

If the pain is overbearing...go to your doctor again..and insist on some action. A stress test...an ultrasound...your nearly there...hang in...sleep as much as you can....labour is very painful you know..... do you have a pain plan in action? Please have one... it helped me and I managed to deliver all my 3 without pain killers of anykind...no epidural or anything...IM not suggesting that is for everybody but I am glad that I did it. My middle child was 10 lb 3 oz.....OUUUUUccccchhhhhh!!!!!! Good luck....

It sounds like maybe your body is getting ready to give birth.
You should let your doctor know your still having this problem.

it would desire to be synthesis pubis (undecided of the spelling) it fairly is the place the ligaments interior the front of the pubic bone soften and stretch, they try this in baby delivery for sure yet some cases they soften early. it fairly is helped with a brace which inserts under your bump, it fairly is elastic and is measured for you this lifts the load quite of the pubic bone.
