I am looking for a new TV about 42". I went to the store and got completly confused. There are projection, LCD, Plasma and on and on. I understand projection but the other two are hard to choose. Is plasma better than LCD or the other way around? What about reliability of LCD and Plasma? Picture quality? I need some help figuring out which is the best for the buck. Please help or direct me to a site that will explain all of this. Thanks.

From what I've heard, the plasma is the way to go. It's definitely the most popular; it's all you hear about anymore. I would recommend the Panasonic; it seems to be the flagship 42-incher as far as plasmas are concerned, and they build pretty reliable machines in general. LCD IS THE BEST, it doesn't create burn it, they are thin, and they have a better life expectancy (?) I guess they last a lot longer... they will never go out and fade on you. LCD has a better picture quality as well.

Burn In: When u leave something on the screen for to long for expamle the kids leave the options screen from there ps2 on the screen over night on accedint... it will burn that image on the screen.. and u will be forever with it.. and it doesn't qualify as a warranty issue.

Plasma is top of the line but bvery expensive.
High definition is almost as good and easier to repair.
LCD is not necessarily high definition.
Projection is terrible if you want to be able to watch the picture from more than one angle.
