usually the recommendation is to have a doctor diagnos a yeast infection for the first time just to make sure it isn't a more serious problem. afterwards, if the symptoms recurr it can be self-treated as long as it doesn't happen too often

If you've been diagnosed in the past and you're sure that's what you've got, then it's ok. If you've never been officially diagnosed, you may want to hold off until you can see the doctor (assuming she can see you tomorrow). Then again, having had one myself, I know how uncomfortable it can be. But it is possible to have a bad reaction if you really don't have a yeast infection.
If you've never been diagnosed, do go to the doctor. I went about 10 years thinking I had recurrent yeast infections (based on information from friends and even doctors) but it turns out what I really had were recurrent urinary tract infections.

If you've never had a yeast infection before you should probably talk to your doctor. But if you've had one before or are 100% sure that is what you have, then using Monistat should clear it up with no problem. If you use it and you still have a problem then head to your doctor and tell him/her what happened.

It's over the counter for just that reason. If it doesn't work, then you should see your doctor.

If you have never had one before, they usually recommend that you have your doctor diagnose the first one, then you just know it when you get another.
