In nature the males will fight until one wins, and the loser leave the others territory. In a bowl the loser has no where to run. Males can't be kept with females either. Females are generally less aggressive. I've had females beat up my males. Generally unless the females have been raised together you can keep more than 1 per 5-10 gallons. They will generally only fight until they work out a pecking order. Adding or removing betta tends to result in violent reordering of the pecking order.
Funny thing I just moved, and made the mistake of put the boy's tanks next to the girls tank. The girl started beating each other up again. (sigh)

i might propose doing one among 2 issues... one million. placed something in front of the divider so as that they cant see eachother. 2. purchase a clean bowl for the different betta. those are extremely your in user-friendly terms strategies yet as some others mentioned (although no longer very precise) bettas are fish that are sure to attack different dazzling shifting issues or different male bettas basic...its in simple terms of their genes and its no longer extremely that they are under pressure its in simple terms how they are.

They do fight, but it takes forever for them to die. Fight to the death? Well, I guess. They really just lose fins and get minor body injuries. The only way for them to really kill each other is if they 'bite' the other betta's mouth and keep it shut until it dies. Doesnt really happen.

Yes, they will fight to the death. Try holding up a mirror to one of them so that it can see its self. He will flare out like he's ready to fight.
