It is a matter of semantics. It is true that Macs are PCs. But in the same way that both boys and girls are human, it is sometimes necessary to use terms that differentiate between them. Can you think of a better way to tell them apart than 'Mac' and 'PC?'

Everybody understands these terms. Would you rather that people had to say "I have a personal computer designed in Cupertino California, and manufactured in China by a Taiwanese company called Foxxcon called an iMac." and "Oh really? I have a personal computer designed in Boise Idaho and manufactured in China by LG manufacturing called a SimulData 5000."

:-D I have a Mac. Oh. I have a PC. Done.

Apple makes great computers, and the best way to show how good they are is to compare them with other computers, preferably computers most people are familiar with.

Would you watch an ad that tried to show all of the features of a Mac, even if they could somehow shrink it all down to a 30 second spot? Probably not. You probably would just want to know if their computer is easier to use and more secure than the competition. Your real question would be: Is it a better value? and that can only be answered with a comparison.

Contrary to what you may have heard....apple is not partially owned by microsoft...they do have an alliance of sorts that deals with the software aspect but nothing more.

The two started at the same time and Bill did snag some key concepts from Apple founder Steve Wozniak (the Woz) such as "windows" the "mouse" and other inovations. Needless to say...they are going to go at it!

It is an effort to show up PC software ( namely Micosoft) The MAC is the superior hardware and for graphics the PC can't come close. The ideal combination would be Linux on a MAC. Unfortunately I know of only one distro that you can load onto a MAC

It's caled Marketing. Apple needs to sell Macs, so they pit them against Windows PCs.

This is no different than Chevy going against Ford or Toyota against Honda.

Once upon a time, there were two computer companies: Apple, which made the Macintosh computer, and IBM, which made the IBM Personal Computer (PC). Apple and IBM were competitors and to this day still are. The end.

Personally i think apple should give up the OS field, they lost to microsoft about 10 years ago. Apple should either make Pc's that use windows, or stick to what they do best- making ipods.
