The term homosexual can be used to describe individuals as well as their sexual orientation, sexual history, or self-identification. Some people also feel the term is too clinical and somewhat dehumanizing. Much of that sentiment arose while homosexuality was still classified as a mental illness in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. As a result, the terms gay and lesbian are generally preferred when discussing a person of this sexual orientation, whose sexual history is predominated by this behavior, or who identifies as such. The first letters are frequently combined to create the acronym LGBT (which is also written as GLBT, in which B and T refer to bisexuals and transgender individuals). Some same-sex oriented people personally prefer the term "homosexual" rather than "gay", as they may perceive the former as describing a sexual orientation and the latter as describing a cultural or socio-political group with which they do not identify.

Although some early writers used the adjective homosexual to refer to any single-gender context (such as an all-girls' school), today the term is used virtually exclusively for sexual attraction. The term homosocial is now used to describe single-sex contexts that are not specifically sexual. The more generic term homophilia (“same-love”) is also preferred by some.

Maybe to people involved in a same sex relationship feel the same way about you making out with your opposite sex partner. P.D.A between all people can go to the point where it is disgusting.

As of 46 years ago "sodomy" was outlawed in every state in the Union. "Sodomy" wasn't always exclusively about homosexuality, sometimes the law officially prohibited oral and anal sex between any two persons whether they were of the same sex or opposite sex. But one way or another, homosexual behavior was officially outlawed in every state.

Benjamin Franklin once said that laws which are too strict are seldom enforced and laws which are too lenient are seldom obeyed. The "sodomy" laws suffered from both of those problems. Law enforcement officials weren't interested in enforcing those laws in the places where they were most often violated -- in the privacy of one's own home. Hence, most people understood that they could, realistically, violate the laws and pretty much always "get away with it."

Most states had repealed those laws without any help from the Courts. But 3 years ago the U.S. Supreme Dictators did away with the remaining "sodomy" laws in the case of Lawrence v. Texas. I do not agree at all with the Court's interpretation of the Constitution in that case, but if you ever get a chance to read the Court's opinion, it might give you some insight into why those "sodomy" laws fomented disrespect among the people who were, in fact, violating them.

(Like me. I'm gay, btw.)

Firstewall, learn to write the question right.

it must say:
Do you think that Homosexuality should be outlawed.

Than secondly, the answer is no. Cause Homosexuality has excisted since there are human's on this earth. They even excist in the animal world. ****, now someone is going to knock me out because I compare that with the animal world. But truth is, Homosexuality has alway's been there and will alway's been there.

What areyou afraid of? I am asking you this question?

I can understand how you feel on this subject, however consider how you might feel if suddenly the courts decided to take away something that you feel that you have the right to do. Something like choose which church that you might like to attend next sunday for example. That is your decision it should never be anyone elses decision but yours am I right? Okay now consider this, although it might be moralistically wrong to choose to give your love to a member of the same sex, do we really have the right to make it against the law? After all, they should have rights to choose what they want just the same as anyone else. What should be against the law however, is what they are able to do in public. I don't want my children seeing two men kissing in the park or at the library or grocery store and etc, it is disgusting. Allowing them to show affection to each other in front of people's children should be a crime, childrens should be protected against things like that, but what they do behind closed doors, just as long as they aren't insisting on discussing it publicly then we wouldn't know about it in the first place. So that shouldn't be considered a crime, but that is only fair because straight people don't want to know any details at all.

Not outlawed but PDA does take it a little too far. Some people like myself find it nasty and disgusting but you really can't stop it. But they should really do that in privacy. I find it offensive. And I don't wanna hear crap about human rights and all that and those people have feelings. So freaking what? I have feelings too and me and my man don't do all that PDA mess so I don't think they should either. It's just respect.

I agree that it should be outlawed. It spreads disease - AIDS - and just because perverts in Hollywood like to indulge doesn't make it acceptable. I also resent having it put in my face with 'Gay parades' and 'Gay Pride'. Perhaps if they were discrete instead of shouting it from the rooftops I wouldn't care, but they have no self respect and I don't respect them.

Yeah that would be a great use of the time of law enforcement, getting search warrants to catch gay people having sex -- not.

Also, bad for business, the theater, fashion, movies and music. No more soap operas. Bad Hairdos.
