Ancient British, Celt (which originated outside the British Isles, perhaps on the Black Sea in modern day Turkey), Belgic, Gaul, Roman, Scandinavian (Saxon, Viking etc), Norman (ie Norsemen, originally Scandinavian), Jewish, Spanish, Flemish, Huguenot (French) etc etc
The British are, and always have been since pre-historic times, a mongrel people. And all the richer for it.

My family are predominately `Celtic` of Scottish and Irish descent, with a bit of Anglo-Saxon thrown in for good measure.
All Europeans migrated to where they are now from some other place, the Celts may originally have come from central Asia, as the Scyths, they went east to China (Sakka princes) and up to Siberia and West through Greece, the Balkans and Germany, Spain , France etc...as the Cymmerians, east with the Scyths and west on a more southerly route south of the Black Sea. Their name lives on in Cymru or Wales as the English like to call it and The Crimea too.
Some would say we should throw the Berbers of north Africa into the mix too, particularly with regard to Spain and Ireland, it would explain the red hair !
It is a bit more complicated than that of course, but that is the theory anyway.
So I think most of us are a bit of a mix.
We are just people really.

Ever hear of Anglo-Saxons?
They are literally the tribes of Angles and Saxons from Western Germany and Denmark. There are also traces of Celtic blood in them. Celtic culture spread from Belgium through France and all through the British Isles around 100 BC.

Its funny because everyone goes on about multi cultural Britain these days, but that's only said now because people are different colours. Britain has always been multi cultural. The Romans came here, so did the vikings, William the conqueror came from France and no doubt his men stayed here. also were Germanic and Irish coming over and many wars have been waged over blighty. Even queen Elizabeth has German blood. That fact is that we are all one people, the sooner that sinks in the sooner we can have peace, but that's not gonna happen because peace doesn't make millions for American corporations does it?

My nan was looking in to our family tree and her side of the family went back to the Vikings. and i know i have blood links to french and possible Italians and a very distant connection to the royals your looking very distant like a 1000 years ago. No-one is a true English person, we are made up of many different connections brought to one place.
