Sometimes, the bags are caused by dehydration. Try drinking the proper amount of fluids (mostly water), and that means 8 glasses a day, more if you exercise or drink caffeine. You can also try putting a cool compress over your eyes while lying down or laying your head back (icy water or a cold pack from the freezer works well), or using super thin cucumber slices placed over your eyes. All these reduce swelling and firm up the skin around the eyes. Try setting the alarm a few minutes early and spend a few minutes with a treatment over your eyes before you get up.

I don't understand what you mean about getting rid of them when you go to sleep...? I'm guessing you mean some kind of treatment that goes to work as you're sleeping? I'm not sure about that... anyway I'll try to help...
Are you talking about puffiness or dark circles? I have always had kind of prominent "dark circles" under my eyes, just blue veins that are pretty noticable to me. I wear glasses, though, and the frames hide them... but when I used to wear contacts I would get self-conscious about it. I would use just a little bit of cover stick makeup and rub it in. You don't have to put a whole lot on, and you could use any kind of skintone makeup... liquid, stick, powder, whatever works for you.
If you're talking about puffiness, the old adage about putting wet tea bags over your eyes for a minute really works. It brings down the swelling.

I work in ophthalmology and some times bags under the eyes are "fat pads". This is just a build up of fat tissue that can be surgically removed but normally not covered by insurance. See your Dr. for more information. Cucumbers and things like that will not help. Good luck.

Put 2 spoons in the refrigerator and when good and cold place them on your eyes with the rounded sides pressing on your eyelids. I have also hear the cool teabags work well but the spoons are free. [Assuming you have spoons.] :-)
