Are you referring to a press pass or the actually lanyard tags that hang around one's neck?

A press pass (to take photos) gets you to front row and to what they call the blue room after a show for the meet and greets.

Then there are the new staff/crew photo passes and even they have security levels. You can have a photo pass lanyard and be a member of the crew (a roadie). It won't get you anywhere but backstage and that isn't much these days.

You have to have an "all access picture pass lanyard" to go anywhere without question and that's basically the "band" and "management" and that's about it. Otherwise you have to pass the "gatekeeper" and that's who ever is in charge of accessing security to whatever area you want to get to. If they don't know or don't like you, you're not getting in!
