Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you want your turtle to live, get him out of the lagoon ASAP!!! This is not a suitable home for him. He needs a proper set up with the biggest aquarium you can afford. Or you can use a rubbermaid bin. You need to have a basking spot so he can come completley out of the water and dry off. You need a UVA/UVB light of at least 5%, you need a heat lamp (you can use a regular household bulb) etc. I hope the person who sold it to you didn't tell you it will stay that size forever, beacause with proper care depending on species and sex it can get 12 in plus. I am really sorry if you were duped into buyin a "cute little turtle that stays that little" cuz it doesn't. Also when you do get the proper set up please don't use gravel. Turtles can and will eat this and they will become impacted and in extreme cases will die.

But yes you can take him out and let him roam just keep a good eye on him! And wash your hands afterwards.

For more help come check out a great pet forum lots of great people willing to help, including me! lol http://www.turtleexchange.com/forum/index.php Hope to see you soon!

Sure, but be careful around other pets and people to keep everybody safe. wash your hands after handling any reptile or amphibian. My turtle and my tortoise both enjoy a change of scenery once in a while. don't feed them on the carpet so they don't accidently ingest carpet fibers. Also, some animals may be more timid than others. Have fun!
