You're better off giving her apple sauce rather than apple juice, especially if you make the applesauce yourself. In addition to applesauce being more nutritious than apple juice, it also has more fiber, which will help her to have a bowel movement. Another good fruit for that is pear. Quick recipe: Peel, core and chop one apple and one pear, put in a saucepan with 1 tablespoon of raisins (also high in fiber) and 1 tablespoon of pure apple juice (make sure it says 100% - go for the baby or toddler brands). You can also add a pinch of cinnamon, if you like (my 6-month old daughter loves this recipe with the cinnamon). Bring everything to a simmer, cover and cook for 5 minutes. Puree in a blender or chopper, whatever you have, until pretty smooth (the raisins will stay a little chunky - that's ok). Let it cool a little before giving it to her, but it tastes really good warm (try it!) Viola, instant laxative! I swear, my daughter "went" 6 times in one day after eating this stuff! Other bowel movement-friendly fruits - figs and prunes. Good luck!

My son was in the hospital at 2 months old for Whooping cough, but he hadn't had a bowel movement for 6 days. My doctor sent apple juice in to help before an enema. The apple juice did not work that particular time with him, however I use it at home when he is constipated and it works wonders. I would water it down to start with and gradually use less and less water.

My daughter was going through the same thing. Get the toddler apple juice and dilute it. Half water, half juice. If you get the adult stuff just use more water. Thats what the pediatrician said but its best to ask your doc.

yes, apple juice is fruit and fruit is supposed to help. mix the juice with plenty of water though(not to much)and give it to her-also called diluting it-. Also if it seems like it's doing nothing then continue doing that & try some vitamins.

Yes. Another thing that I found helpful is the baby prune food. But check with your pedeatrician because some say that "dark" food are only okay after a certain age.
