Though it is true that Manny is quite a power hitter, his performance in the outfield has been sketchy to say the least. Watching him "meander" to first base, rather than hustle, when he hits a base hit, or stopping to watch his handiwork when he does hit one out of the park, seems very unprofessional. To me he acts like a spoiled brat, taking liberties non of the other "team players" enjoy. Kind of like Pedro. He acts like a little Prima Dona, I hope they do trade him and obtain a player that will be proud to wear the Red Sox Jersey, so we wont have to listen to him whine about being stuck in Boston for another year. Being a power hitter is great, but it would be better to have a well rounded player that can also inspire his "team mates" to try harder by leading by example.

The question is, will it help?

No, no, no, I'm sorry. I'm just kidding. I think the Red Sox would be crazy to trade Manny. The one-two punch of Ortiz and Manny is killer. The only problem is what happens if they get hurt, as we saw this season? I'd say try to build a team that's more evenly dangerous, but keep Manny and Ortiz as you do that, or you're a much weaker team in the transition period.

Hah, look at me. A Yankee fan giving advice to the Red Sox.

Manny makes about $18 million a year. Few teams could afford it. One team that could afford the money and needs the bat is the Angels, but Scoscia and Manny would be like a mongoose and a cobra in the clubhouse. Any other team would want financial concessions. The Red Sox were willing to do so on a smaller scale to get rid of Edgar Rentaria, but the cost to get rid of Manny would be staggering. So no, I think he stays with the Red Sox.

I hope not. I think Manny is a great out fielder, and i really dont mind when Manny is being Manny. Go Red Sox.

I hope not.

However, I don't think they will. They need him more than ever. I disagree with the last person, after this season, Manny only has 3 years left in his contract. More teams will now be able to afford him, and not just the Yankeees. But I hope they don't trade him. It will really piss off a lot of people in Boston, especially after this horrible season.

Well think of this if Manny didnt hit behind Ortiz he would be stand up MVP this year so if they trade him they better get a Great starting pitcher and a good outfielder.

They won't trade him and if they did, they're stupid.
He's 1 of only 2 impressive players on that team !
Another thing : He's too expensive and besides,
where would he even go?
They would need to get decent pitching in return for him.
Maybe a good young starter like Weaver or Verlander.

They couldn't give him away. Seriously, the Yankees are the only team that could afford him and they already have too many outfielders. Red Sox are stuck with him til end of his conract.

They already tried to give him away a couple of years ago and had no takers.
