The Constitutional Convention of 1778 which determined that America would have a President, a Judiciary and a bicameral Legislature, The war of 1812 which was caused by the pressment of US merchant sailors into the British navy, The Lewis and Clark expedition, which surveyed parts of the west to the Pacific, the Railroads and laying of tracks across the Country and the early posturing over the slavery issue which was to lead to the civil war. These are just a few of the events that come to mind and I haven't been in school in fifty years.

If you're serious and asking about US history the country became a nation of many states from the few colonies of the Revolution., People migrated and settled areas from coast to coast. The LA Purchase opened many new areas for settlement.

in the USA--- it was mostly western expansion.
The Ohio river valley and the Louisiana purchase were settled.
The mapping of the west was under-way. The Trans-continental trainroad and the CA gold-rush were in full swing in the mid' 1840 to 50.
