After seeing tons of movies and discovery channel programs, ive always wondered. How did the egyptians pluck or wax every hair on their body and yet not have problems with breaking out or having problems with their pores? All documents mention that the egyptians would wax and pluck every hair off their body, but was it a constant thing like plucking ones eyebrows, or was it permanent?

Keep in mind that if you pluck out a hair enough, it can damage the follicle and cause it not to grow back. So presumably if you're doing enough plucking, eventually you won't have as much to pluck.

Also, the Egyptians didn't use waxing so much as sugaring. The process is pretty much the same, but sugaring is supposed to be less painful because the paste formed only sticks to hair and not to skin. It also leaves a sticky mess, but a little water will clean that up too!

Even ancient Egyptians were also familiar with some chemical treatments that could dissolve hair without painful plucking. Many of these treatments were not exactly safe either, though, and were undoubtedly less pleasant than spreading sugar all over yourself.

Keep in mind, too, that not EVERYONE plucked out all their hair. The nobility certainly did, but then they could afford expensive wigs and people to fan and shade them constantly. If you don't have all these things then hair is a good way to prevent massive sunburn and keep cooling water close to the skin. So I suspect that you'll find that most of the poor did not, in fact, go to such depilatory extremes.

They had waxed and plucked their hair since they where young so most of the hair on their bodies probably never grew back and their skin was used to it so they had no problems.

Bee's wax was used. There were special bath place set up for this. The privileged people had people to put the was onto their bodies then scrape is off with a blade.

it certainly wasn't permanent..
those egyptians were amazing, weren't they? we still can't figure out how they did those pyramids (even with all our massive equipment)...
um.. perhaps they did threading to remove body hair.. but i think with the hair of the head, they did that with shaving.. sharp knives.

not sure though! who knows for sure

sounds crazy. probably the most noticeable hair is what they got rid of. i doubt someone could get rid of every single hair on their body.
