It seems that the MAC would be the one to buy just from the commercials I have seen and that you cun run Windows XP on it so it would be just like a regular PC right?

The mac is definetly the way to go. It'll cost you a little more initially but in the long run it will be cheaper as it is not plagued by malware (viruses, worms etc) like mswindows. As a multimedia machine you can't get any better. Also, check out the free software like openoffice.org (complete office suite), gimp.org (a photoshop like clone), blender.org (a great 3d animation machine) and the firefox browser (http://www.mozilla.com/products/) a great alternative to internet explorer.
hope this helps, have fun.

It all depends on what you are trying to do. Mac's traditionally, are better in the Video, Graphic, and music style applications. The Mac OS's are traditionally more stable. Mac has also traditionally manufactured it's own hardware.

In the last few years, Apple has done a remarkable job in turning around there company, and putting out some revolutionary products. However, they have moved away from their traditional chip-sets, and have moved to a more PC like hardware. The original Mac's stared out with the Motorola Cpu's, and then moved to IBM's PowerPC CPU's. The latest versions out are using Intel CPU's, and that is the same CPU that are in most of the PC's out there.

So as a long answer to your short question, I would advise that you look at what are you using the computer for. If you plan on doing video editing, and or graphic stuff, or if you plan on using a application that has been traditionally Mac based, then get one. If you are looking for just a basic computer, then I would price shop for the best value on your hard earned money.
