A Yahoo search for "yard mushrooms" (include the quotation marks in the search box) yields 154 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, I'm sure that you will quickly find the information you seek.

Good luck with your search.

mushrooms live on decomposing material, so, you have decomp of some kind going on in your lawn, and if you live in the northern hemisphere, its normal this time of year, because plants are diding and getting ready for winter. Mushrooms are good for the soil, so don't get rid of them.

Usually it's because rotting tree roots are present. Did you remove any trees in the last two years? I found that treating the lawn with a fungus solution weekly was quite effective.

in the Early fall and late spring this will happen it is a fungi and lays dormant for the proper conditions, then they grow this is not a problem and they will go away on there own. Heck some of them can be eaten, but I dont advise unless you properly identify them first.

yes, mushrooms are a fungus and you probably had a lot of rain lately or overall humidity/dampness---mushrooms just love that!
Whatever you do, DO NOT EAT THEM!
